What is Shiatsu?

Shiatsu is a body therapy from Japan, derived from the ancient Anma technique. Chinese medical knowledge and Western medicine have influenced, complemented and shaped today’s shiatsu.

The word shiatsu means finger pressure and we use similar principles to acupuncture, but without needles.

With well-adjusted and comfortable pressure, all levels of the body are stimulated to promote a free flow of energy. A shiatsu therapist always takes a holistic view of each individual and, in addition to your symptoms, focuses primarily on your needs. Thumbs, hands and sometimes elbows and knees are used to treat gently and deeply.
